MADE offers a range of English-taught study abroad programs for international students who wish to spend a semester or summer in Syracuse, at the heart of the Mediterranean.
Whether your interests lie in Fine Arts, Design, Interdisciplinary Mediterranean Studies or Italian Studies, MADE programs combine academic learning with direct engagement with Sicily, its cultural heritage, creative communities and contemporary challenges.
Programs are available during the Fall Semester, Spring Semester and Summer Program.
How the Program Works
Students choose one of MADE's study tracks and complete a series of required courses designed to provide a common academic foundation while supporting their individual interests.
| REQUIRED COURSES | TRACK OF CHOICE |
|---|---|
| Italian Language & Culture | Art / Design |
| Directed Undergraduate Research | Interdisciplinary Mediterranean Studies |
| Italian Studies |
Directed Undergraduate Research
As part of the program, students have the opportunity to undertake a Directed Undergraduate Research project, earning academic credits for an individual research project developed with the support of MADE faculty and field mentors.
The research can be connected to the student's chosen study track and may take different forms, combining academic research, artistic and visual practices, fieldwork and interdisciplinary approaches.
